Ryanair delay compensation: how to claim
Ryanair is an EU airline. UK261 covers its flights departing from UK airports. Flights into the UK are covered by EU rules (EU261) instead.
Last checked 27 October 2026. General information, not legal advice.
How to do it
- Under UK rules, if you arrive more than three hours late you can claim £220 (under 1,500 km), £350 (1,500 to 3,500 km), or £260 or £520 (over 3,500 km, depending on how late you arrive) per passenger.
- Claim directly from the airline first, in writing. It's free and you don't need a claims company.
- Ryanair has publicly urged passengers to claim directly rather than through claims companies.
If Ryanair says no
- Ryanair belongs to the AviationADR dispute scheme for UK complaints.
- You can go to the scheme if the airline rejects your claim, or hasn't replied within eight weeks of your written complaint. You must apply within 12 months of the airline's final response. It's free.
